Cisco I expect better from but based on their dropping stock value, I feel as though maybe they aren't as good as they once were. There is just so much obviously wrong with NextBox that I have a hard time understanding how it ever left quality control and was deployed to customers. I personally think it's a combination of bad engineering from Cisco and the Rogers RTN software. Rumors have it ED Rogers had a problem a few months back with his nextbox and lost his mind. RTN is at the top of the list for resolution. Besides that and the fact the fact there are a few glaring bugs (HDMI-CEC for one) that has yet to be fixed after nearly a year, the NB3 does perform the STB/PVR duties reasonably reliably. device reboots itself basically every day at 2am for a software update that doesn't actually seem to change anythingThe NB3 isn't necessarily unreliable, it's just feels that way because of how Rogers forces an update pretty much every day at 2am from which the NB3 does not always recover gracefully from. recorded shows list randomly last "empty" entries in the list when you delete a show, thus breaking the page up/page down buttons. NextBox is basically the least reliable PVR I've ever owned (and I've owned a bunch going back to the Bell 5100 and Rogers 8000).Īlso basically thinking Fibe TV is in my future. Have to say, i'm 99% likely to cancel the service. I got a NextBox 3.0 about 10 days ago haven't subscribed to cable in a while but wanted it for the baseball season, HBO, laziness, etc.
